Spring 2010 Near & Far Aid Spring Gala Breaks Records
The Spring 2010 Near & Far Aid Spring Gala at Mitchells of Westport on March 5 was a huge success. This year, the highly anticipated fundraiser and social event enjoyed record attendance and raised a record amount of money to help the organization in its mission to eliminate the causes and effects of poverty in Fairfield County.
It was great to see people out having fun again! The evening began with a celebration of Near & Far volunteers. Themed “Charity begins at home,” mothers and daughters kicked off an exciting Spring fashion show. Lots of mingling continued, followed by a highly-spirited auction, which included rare wines and great gifts and trips contributed by designers, artists, travel specialists, and stores in our area. A well-received video about Near & Far Aid enlightened all about the great things Near & Far Aid has been accomplishing. It was wonderful to see the store filled with so many familiar faces out to support a phenomenal local cause!
Near & Far Aid Fashion Show!
Spring 2010 was in the air at the Near & Far Gala – and with it – an eclectic mix of fun and fabulous looks! Our Near & Far Fashion show, themed “Charity begins at home” presented some of the season’s most exciting looks, kicked off by some of our community’s most fashionable (and brave) mother/daughter modeling teams. Looks spotted on the runway included lots of neutral tones, metallics and muted florals. It was apparent that red is red hot this season. We saw lots of 50’s and 60’s inspired retro chic, including tunics, ruffles, bermudas and even hot pants! We also saw lots of shoulder… sleeveless, strapless, one-shoulder, and halter, to name a few.
A great time was had by all, on the runway and off. Thanks to our fabulous mother/daughter models for making this fashion event so special and helping up raise money for Near & Far!
